Grey's Crossover Signals Indicator

Get clean, visual Buy/Sell alerts based on the classic 5/13 EMA crossover

This indicator generates clear buy and sell signals based on the crossover of two customizable moving averages, such as EMA 5 and EMA 13, to help identify potential entry and exit points in forex and other markets. It focuses signals during high-liquidity sessions like London and New York for improved relevance, while offering options to display additional trend lines and personalize visuals. Designed for straightforward integration into your trading strategy, it provides reliable cues without overcomplicating analysis.

Key Features:

  • Session-Smart Signals: Focuses on the most liquid trading windows (London & NY sessions) for higher-quality signals.
  • Fully Customizable: Choose your preferred Moving Average type (EMA, SMA, WMA, etc.) and lengths.
  • Clear Visuals: Signals are displayed with your choice of arrows, labels, or crosses in colors that stand out on any chart.
  • Additional Context: Optionally display key support/resistance levels with EMAs 50, 200, 365, and 800.

User Manual / Configuration Guide

Getting started is easy. Once added to your chart, simply adjust these main settings in the indicator's menu to match your trading style:

 Signal Core Setup:

  • Moving Average Type: Choose from EMA, SMA, WMA, VWMA, or RMA. (We recommend starting with EMA).
  • Fast EMA Length: The period for the faster moving average. (Default: 5)
  • Slow EMA Length: The period for the slower moving average. (Default: 13)

 Trading Sessions (The Secret Sauce):

  • Restrict to Sessions: Toggle this ON to activate session filtering.
  • London/NY Start/End Times: Set the exact hours for each session in EST. The defaults are pre-configured for the most active periods.

 Appearance

  • Buy/Sell Colors: Customize the colors of your buy and sell signals.
  • Plot EMAs on Chart: Toggle the signal lines (5/13) and the larger trend EMAs (50, 200, etc.) on/off to keep your chart clean.
A simple strategy: Look for a BUY (green) signal during the London session and a SELL (red) signal during the New York session. Always confirm with price action!

Tips & best practices

  • Trend + Signal: Prioritize buys when price is above the 200 EMA and sells when below.
  • Session edge: Keeping the session filter ON helps focus on higher-liquidity hours.
  • Test variations: Use the comparative MA set (e.g., 8/21 or 10/20) to see what fits your market and timeframe.
  • Risk first: Pair signals with your own risk management and confirmation.
