🚀 How I Built My First Indie Script with AI (on a Budget!)

Jumping into script development for the MCP Server can feel overwhelming—especially if you’re new to coding or want to make your trading ideas pay off. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to break the bank or go it alone!

I used Abacus AI (yes, that’s a referral link—thanks for supporting me!), which packs 15+ powerful AIs into one super affordable app at just $10/month. It connects directly to the MCP Server, making setup a breeze. Just copy the config from your profile’s “MCP Server Configuration” and you’re good to go!

The real game-changer? Abacus’s Deep Agent. Even on the basic plan, it’ll generate a solid script foundation for you. Once you’ve connected your MCP Server to Abacus, look for the Deep Agent option on the bottom left of your dashboard. Tell the Deep Agent exactly what you want your script to do—be as specific as possible! For example, describe the indicator, strategy, or automation you’re aiming for, be as specific as possible!

When your quotas reached for Deep agent (If your on the $10 plan), create a new Project by clicking the “Create Project” option in the top left menu of the Abacus chat interface.
Inside your Project, you’ll see a section for Custom Instructions. Here, you can paste in specific guidelines for the AI to follow—like always checking the official Indie documentation before generating code, or making sure every variable is clearly defined. This helps the AI reference the latest info and best practices every time it writes code for you.

To make your scripts even better, copy and paste examples of open-source Indie scripts (find them on the community page) into your Project. This gives the AI real-world references to learn from and match your style or requirements, or trouble shoot bugs, if you've hit a wall...

If you run into issues or want to improve your script, don’t hesitate to ask for help in the community Discord. When you get feedback or code snippets from other devs, feed those back into your Project chat. The AI will quickly adapt and improve its future suggestions based on this new info.

By using Projects this way, you’re training the AI to work smarter for you, making your code more accurate, reliable, and tailored to your needs every single time you use it.

By doing this I was able to reproduce 90% of my Indicator, from pinescript, with the other 10% currently on hold due to limitations currently with Indie.

Why pay double (or more) for just one AI, when you can have it all in one place? If you want to dip your toes into scripting, build real trading tools, and keep your costs low, this is hands-down the smartest way to get started. Give it a try—you might be surprised how far your budget can take you!
